Looking for an ERPNext alternative? ERPNext and MitosOne
ERPNext, developed by Frappe Technologies in India, is a fully open-source ERP licensed under GPL-3.0; it runs on the Frappe framework and can be self-hosted or run on Frappe Cloud. MitosOne is an AI-assisted process platform and adaptive ERP focused on building company-specific processes without code. This page compares the two using verifiable information only.
Ready-made ERP modules or a configurable platform?
Packaged ERPs deliver work as modules: accounting, inventory, sales… When a process does not fit a module’s assumptions, either the company adapts its habits or developers and partners customise the system. In MitosOne, company-specific data structures, approval workflows, permissions and reports are configured in the browser; common functions start from ready-made template packages. The two approaches are not mutually exclusive: MitosOne can also run next to an existing ERP as a process layer.
Side by side: verified differences
| Topic | ERPNext | MitosOne |
|---|---|---|
| Licence | GPL-3.0, fully open source; no paid edition. | Proprietary; cloud subscription or on-premises licence. |
| Deployment and pricing model | Self-hosted (bench, Docker) or Frappe Cloud; hosting priced per site or server, not per user. | Cloud with a separate database per company or on-premises with an offline signed licence; no public price list. |
| No-code customisation | Customize Form for fields and layout in the browser; Server Scripts are written in Python and disabled by default since v15. | 19 field types, a formula language with 43 functions, 11 view types and a visual workflow editor with 26 node types in the browser; the script step is isolated and time/resource-limited. |
| Workflow and approval | States, transitions, role-based approval, condition expressions and e-mail notification. | Stages and transitions with role, condition, required fields, reason list, cross-record conditions and segregation of duties, plus a visual workflow engine. |
| Türkiye | Türkiye is not among the official regional guides; a Turkish UI translation exists; no official e-invoice module. | Turkish-first interface (TR/EN/DE); incoming e-invoice/e-archive import, VAT and withholding tables, official holiday calendar, KVKK data-subject requests. Outgoing e-document submission is in development. |
| Implementation | Implementation is done by certified partners in 30+ countries. | Directly by Mitossoft, or by your own system administrator. |
When is MitosOne the better fit?
- You want a Turkish-first interface, Turkey-specific tax tables and local support.
- You want customisation done in the browser by people close to the business rather than in Python scripts.
- Controls such as row- and field-level permissions, field encryption and segregation of duties must be available out of the box.
- You want configuration versioned, tested in a sandbox and promoted to production with approval.
- You prefer to work directly with the vendor rather than look for an implementation partner.
What MitosOne does not have today
To keep this comparison honest: the following are not available in MitosOne today or are still in development.
- No outgoing Turkish e-invoice, e-archive, e-dispatch or e-ledger submission; incoming e-invoice/e-archive files can be imported. Statutory coverage is in development.
- End-user screens for general ledger (journal, trial balance), payroll, sales/purchasing and inventory are in development; there are no balance sheet or income statement reports.
- No bank integration or reconciliation.
- No third-party app store or partner network; packages are published by Mitossoft.
